What is ScanLife all about?

ScanLife is a new way to use your mobile phone to interact with the world around you. What was once only possible using your phone's keypad is now available simply by holding your phone over an EZcode. Stop manually keying in web site addresses. Just scan the EZcode and go right there.

How can I get ScanLife for my mobile phone?

If you are inside the US you can text "scan" to 70734 or just enter your phone number on the home page. You can also type getscanlife.com into your mobile phone's web browser. The whole process takes about a minute or two.

Will ScanLife work with my mobile phone?

The ScanLife software will work with all the phones in this list. Even if your phone isn't listed, or if you don't know what model phone you have, try the above methods. You will receive a text message with a link in it. Follow it to getscanlife.com and ScanLife will automatically detect if your phone is supported.

How do I use ScanLife with a Blackberry?

The ScanLife application for the Blackberry device works directly with the phone's camera. 
1)  After opening the application, click on “Settings” from the landing menu page. 
2)  Uncheck "Disable scanning", and press "Save".
3)  Press "Scan" and the Blackberry camera mode will be activated. Click the center rollerball button to capture an image of the code. A chime will indicate a successful scan.
4)  (if prompted): If your camera settings are set incorrectly, a message will ask you to change them. Press your Blackberry soft key (to the left of the rollerball) and choose "Options". Then go to "Picture Size" and choose "Small". Press Save and go back to Step 3.

Does the iPhone support ScanLife?

The ScanLife software will be available to iPhone users shortly after the newest firmware (2.0) is released.

Can I scan other codes with ScanLife besides EZcodes?

Inside the U.S. you can scan EZcodes. Please see the international capabilities here

I'm having trouble scanning codes. What can I do?

First make sure that the code format is supported (see above). The most important aspect of scanning codes is that the code appears in focus on your camera phone's screen. If it doesn't, try moving closer or farther away. If, no matter what you do, the code appears to be blurry, it may be printed too small for your particular camera phone to scan. Try scanning larger codes. Also make sure that the code is well lit and has no shadows covering it. Finally, to capture the image clearly please minimize camera shake and try holding the phone over the code for moment after the code has been read.

What should I do if it is taking a long time to get a response after scanning a code?

The processing speed is completely dependent on your phone's data connection. If you are not getting a response after 30-45 seconds, it is recommended that you press the 'Clear' or 'Back' button and scan the code again. If that is still not working, you may need to try scanning from a different location for better reception

Do I need data connectivity to run ScanLife?

Yes, an Internet connection is required.

Do I have to pay to scan EZcodes?

You will not be charged to scan a code, but if your mobile carrier charges you for Internet access or text messages, their normal rates may apply. Check with your carrier for more details about your individual data plan.

How can I create EZcodes?

You can sign up to create EZcodes here. Currently we don't support creating codes for personal use, but that is coming soon.

Do I have to pay to create EZcodes?

If you want to use codes commercially, sign up for ScanLife Professional and a representative from Scanbuy will contact you with pricing information.

What else can EZcodes do besides go to web sites?

Can I create EZcodes in color?

Scanbuy strongly recommends using any combination of black and white, as colors can reduce the chance of a successful scan.

Can I save EZcodes after I scan them?

Yes, EZcodes are automatically saved in the history tab in the ScanLife application.

How can I save EZcodes as Favorites?

Choose "Make Favorite" from the options menu in the history tab.

Can I turn off sound in ScanLife?

Yes, choose the "Audio" option from the options menu.

How can I tell other people about ScanLife?

You can choose "Share ScanLife" from the options menu, tell them to text the word "scan" to 70734, or tell them to visit ScanLife.com.

Will my personal information be shared by using ScanLife?

ScanLife does not share personal information, like your phone number or email address, with anyone unless you specifically provide it after you have scanned a code. We only ask that you complete a short, one-time survey to help improve the service and keep it free for you. This information will not be used to send unwanted SPAM or marketing material.
